David Jones’ experience in the fashion industry is unparalleled, spanning decades and covering many different aspects of launching and running a successful business. For the past 20 years David has put his wealth of experience to good use, managing his own business consultancy to provide training courses and mentorship to emerging fashion brands.

David began his career at the age of 14 as a tailoring apprentice before going on to hold senior management positions within both Aquascutum and Wallis Fashion Group where he remained for 12 years. Since leaving Wallis in the 80s David has focussed on supporting many small organisations to become established, survive and grow into significant businesses.

He has played an integral role in the establishment and development of several government sponsored initiatives with the aim of supporting emerging talent as well as supporting traditional garment manufacturing within London. First he was invited by Hackney Council to help set up the London Fashion Centre to support small business and manufacturing in East London. He was then asked to be the Managing Director and Chairman of the London Fashion Forum, an organisation established by the Department of Trade and Industry, the London Development agency and the Government Office for London, to develop small business within the fashion industry across London.  Following on from this David became Managing Director of the London Apparel Resource Centre based in North East London. Over a period of many years this developed into Fashion Capital, which today is the leading resource for all things fashion including; manufacturing, training, events and news.

He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Vice President and a Fellow of the Clothing and footwear Institute and a past President and Fellow of the clothing Designers and Executives Association. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management.

Always interested in training for the Fashion Industry, David has been an external examiner at several British Universities including; Newcastle Metropolitan, Manchester Metropolitan, De Montfort University, Westminster University and Middlesex University. He is a past Chairman of Governors at Berkshire College of Art and Design and a Technical and Management Advisor to a further six educational establishments including London College of Fashion.

In 1986 David was awarded the coveted Holden Medal by the Clothing and Footwear Institute in recognition of his exceptional services to education and training within the Fashion Industry both in Britain and overseas.

He is a registered Consultant with the Department of Trade and Industry Enterprise Initiative in both Business Planning and Marketing and an accredited consultant with the Charted Institute of Marketing. In addition he has full accreditation with the TEC Assure Group and Enterprise Support Limited and is, at present working with several established British Fashion Designers to assist them in the effective management and development of their organisations.

These days David’s main focus is the continuing education and support of small business within the industry, which he provides through training courses for over 20 years and individual mentoring.
